Hailey Gaiser is a painter and collage artist living and working in a warehouse under the freeway in San Francisco. She had a very unconventional upbringing, being raised by her hippie-witch pagan mama, along with whom she hop-scotched the wild places of this country. Through the constant upheaval and change, the varying levels of the quality of education in local schools, and short term friendships; art remained a constant. She has always had an extremely independent and highly inquisitive nature, and art making provided a lens through which to explore each new location. After receiving her BFA from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA in 2006, she relocated to San Francisco. The shift of climate and vibes inspired her to force her hand toward brightness and light in her paintings, rather than the doom & gloom that was manifesting in her work in the dreary Seattle winters. She continues to travel the world and glean inspiration from each new place she encounters, and greatly enjoys discovering the indigenous stories and local histories of each new land. We have so much more in common than we realize.
